Care for your cotton cardigans with love
BYPIAS cotton knits are 100% cotton and made locally in Finland. They remain beautiful for a long time when cared for, washed, and stored correctly. The rule of thumb is to air them out often and wash them rarely. Allow the cardigan to rest between wears to give the fibers time to recover. Our cotton cardigans are pre-washed as finished products, so they don’t need washing before their first use.
Wash cotton cardigans at 30°C in water with similar colors, turned inside out. Use a gentle spin cycle and liquid detergent without bleach. For stain removal, we recommend gall soap. Shape the knit to its proper dimensions while damp and dry flat or hanging. Avoid tumble drying. BYPIAS cotton knits are bohemian by design, so they don’t require ironing. However, if you wish to iron them, do so on the reverse side at the recommended cotton temperature.
Cotton cardigans may pill at first. This occurs as short fibers rise to the surface, forming fuzz on areas prone to friction, such as bag straps, seat belts, coat seams, or other surfaces rubbing against them. Pilling is natural and can easily be removed with a fabric shaver.
How to make your linen cardigans last
BYPIAS women's linen cardigans are made of 100% linen, so it’s important to be mindful when washing them. Linen cardigans can be washed at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle cycle with similar colors. Place loose-knit cardigans in a laundry bag to prevent snags. Use liquid detergent. Wash colored linen items with a non-bleach detergent, while pure white products can be washed with detergent for whites. For stain removal, we recommend gall soap. Avoid fabric softener, as it weakens linen fibers. Store linen cardigans hanging and avoid long-term folding to prevent fiber breakage at creases. If snags occur from metal parts like zippers, watches, or necklaces, fix the threads by pulling them to the reverse side using a crochet hook instead of scissors.
